Purpose

The primary aim of the Disability and Support Learning Community is to introduce disability, Universal Design, and Autism as key conversation topics within the university environment. The LC focuses on learning from each other, increasing knowledge, and identifying opportunities to implement Universal Design practices in everyday academic settings.

Summary

Reflective Conversations: The community has engaged in reflective discussions on their learning interests, the goals of the Learning Community, and their experiences with Universal Design in education.

Ongoing Discussions: Staff involved are keen to further explore the challenges and opportunities for implementing Universal Design across MTU.

Focus on Neurodivergent Students: The community has been focusing on the growing interest and support for neurodivergent students, recognising the challenges staff face in incorporating Universal Design into their practices.
