Purpose
The Learning Spaces Learning Community aims to foster collaboration on optimising and enhancing learning environments. It focuses on the importance of physical spaces in student learning experiences, best practices in learning space design, and stakeholder engagement for improved educational outcomes. The community promotes a people-centred approach in learning space development and encourages inclusivity in educational spaces across MTU.
Summary
- Learning Spaces Gathering (December 2023, HIVE): An informal meet-and-greet event, fostering collaboration among staff and students.
- Development of a Stakeholder Engagement Framework: A team within the LC continues to share and promote this framework internally and externally to enhance learning spaces at MTU.
- Collaboration Across Disciplines and Campuses: Members from various academic and administrative backgrounds contribute to discussions on best practices in learning space development.
- Learning Spaces Conference 2025 (Planned): The LC is preparing for a dedicated conference focused on learning spaces, with an emphasis on inclusivity and engagement.
- Student and Staff Engagement: The LC includes both undergraduate and postgraduate students, aiming to influence over 100 students through discussions, events, and research-sharing initiatives.
- Expansion of Membership and Impact: The LC continues to grow, involving new members and strengthening cross-campus collaborations.
