About DELTA
The Disciplinary Excellence in Learning, Teaching and Assessment (DELTA) initiative is a key component of Munster Technological University's commitment to enhancing the quality of teaching, learning and assessment across all disciplines. DELTA supports programme and disciplinary teams in recognising, evidencing and further developing excellence in student-centred education. MTU is a national leader holding 10 DELTA awards.
The DELTA Award, coordinated nationally through the National Forum for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education, is a prestigious recognition granted to disciplinary teams that demonstrate sustained excellence in teaching and learning and a shared commitment to ongoing enhancement. It is the only national award specifically designed to recognise achievement at the discipline team level.
DELTA recognises disciplinary teams that have established a strong culture of teaching and learning enhancement and can demonstrate evidence of innovative, student-focused practice. The award acknowledges both past achievements and future commitments, encouraging teams to engage in continuous reflection, collaboration and improvement.

SATLE funding allows the Department of Learning, Teaching and the Arts to support teams through every stage of the DELTA process, with:
With this support, teams examine their teaching and learning practice, gather evidence of its impact on students, and develop an action plan for future enhancement. The programme is open to every discipline team in the university through a competitive call for applications. Over 10 DELTA teams have been funded through SATLE to apply for their DELTA award.
