Strategic Alignment of Teaching and Learning Enhancement (SATLE) Funding presents higher education institutions nationally with opportunities to enhance Teaching, Learning, Assessment and Student Engagement (TLASE) for both students and staff. This funding is administered by the National Forum for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (NFETLHE) in partnership with the Higher Education Authority (HEA).

At the request of Professor Maggie Cusack, President of MTU, Ms. Marese Bermingham, Head of the Teaching and Learning Unit, AnSEO – The Student Engagement Office and Arts Office, is the Institutional Lead for SATLE Funding and is working with staff and students across all campuses to provide a comprehensive TLASE enhancement approach.

This funding continues to support initiatives focused on the three key areas:

  • Education for Sustainable Development (ESD)
  • Digital Transformation in the Tertiary Sector
  • Best Practices in Academic Integrity

MTU’s strategy for SATLE 2024/25 builds on previous initiatives from SATLE 2019, 2020, 2022-23, and 2023-24, focusing on five main areas:

  1. Disciplinary Excellence in Learning, Teaching, and Assessment (DELTA) Award Support

  2. Feedback and Academic Integrity for Early Career Lecturers

  3. Learning Enhancement Projects (LEPs)

  4. RAFT 4: Reimagining Assessment & Feedback Together 4

  5. Reusable Learning Resources Project [ Coming Soon] - this project will result in the development of a series of Reusable Learning Resources and will be led by colleagues in the Department of Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL), MTU Cork Campuses and the E-learning Development and Support Unit (EDSU), MTU Kerry campuses.
