The Teaching & Learning Unit (TLU) at MTU supports the professional development of staff through various initiatives aimed at enhancing teaching and learning practices. With funding from the Technological Sector Advancement Fund (TSAF), these programmes aim to cultivate effective leadership within the university, ensuring that staff are equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to drive positive change and support the institution's strategic objectives.
The Leadership & Management Development initiatives aim to enhance leadership skills, foster collaboration, support institutional strategy, and encourage continuous growth among staff.
Key programmes include:
- LEAD@MTU: A masterclass series focused on developing essential leadership skills. This programme is designed for senior current leaders who wish to enhance their capabilities and support the university's objectives through interactive sessions covering key themes such as strategic planning and effective communication.
- Insights: A popular psychometric tool designed to enhance overall effectiveness in a working environment through emphasis on personal preferences in approaches to communication, collaboration and task management. Participants engage in workshops that promote reflective practices and strategic thinking.
- Elevate Leadership Development Programme: A tailored programme open to all university staff, focusing on transformation, communication, and collaborative leadership. Participants can select from various leadership tracks suited to their experience levels, and the programme includes opportunities for self-directed learning and peer support. Applications for the 2025/26 programme will open in May 2025.
