Project Description
This project will create student-recorded videos showcasing key skills from BIS modules and their link to career goals. These videos will be integrated into career workshops focused on ethics, professional identity, and inclusion, supported by resources and a train-the-trainer model for sustainability. The initiative promotes reflection on values and diverse perspectives, aiming to provide a lasting resource that supports student development and benefits the wider community, institutions, and future employers.
What is the anticipated impact of this project?
This project aims to boost student engagement, confidence, and professional identity in the BIS program by emphasising core values like ethics, respect, and social responsibility. The student-led videos, showcasing diverse voices and career-aligned skills, will inspire reflection and serve as authentic role models, particularly encouraging underrepresented groups in STEM. Integrated into workshops and curricula, these videos promote active learning and highlight the societal impact of professional choices. By prioritising inclusive storytelling, the project supports MTU’s DEI goals and fosters a more equitable learning environment. Long-term, it will create a lasting resource that nurtures ethical leadership and values-driven graduates, positively influencing future students, employers, and communities.
HOW Will the outputs of this project be DISSEMINATED?
The project outputs will be shared widely through MTU events, workshops, and cross-department collaboration to embed videos into course delivery. Externally, findings and videos will be presented at national and international conferences and published in academic journals to showcase the use of student-created multimedia in professional identity and diversity promotion. A train-the-trainer model will ensure sustainability, empowering staff to continue the work beyond the project. This approach aims to build a community of practice, influence curricula, and advance inclusive, digital teaching methods in higher education.
