Purpose
A Learning Community designed to support staff and students engaged in the Crawford film forum.
Summary of Activities
We continued our engagement with both local film festivals (IndieCork and Cork International Film Festival) with students and lecturers attending screenings, workshops and special events which we utilised to network between Crawford College of Art & Design (CCAD), Bishopstown, Cork School of Music (CSM) and Tralee campuses. These discussions lead to the instigation of a Sound and Vision workshop series over the course of the second semester.
We programmed a unique strand of artist moving image works during IndieCork with representation from all Irish art and design programmes.
We brought staff and students from CSM and CCAD together on a weekly basis in Semester Two with our Sound & Vision workshop series funded by Department of Fine Art and the TLU.
We planned for enhanced engagement through film composition with Cork International Film Festival and have a number of events and projects now at the planning stage for 2022 and 2023.
We built upon existing links in our programmes and understood the problems of timetabling to enable us to plan for coming together early in semester one so that students can collaborate on each others project work (eg CSM students in composition working on the sound tracks for video pieces generated by students in CCAD).
