Purpose
- To facilitate the exchange of best practice teaching and learning methodologies in therapeutic work.
- To collaborate and share information relating to best practice policy and development.
- To work together to achieve the best pedagogical results for students.
Summary
- The Learning Community met monthly at Crawford, Grand Parade Gallery, to discuss best practices and strategies in therapeutic education.
- Members participated in The Practice of Being Present training with Dr. Bonnie Badenoch, exploring relational neuroscience in psychological therapies.
- A session was organised with the Social Work Department Retrospective Child Protection training officers to address challenges in delivering therapeutic training.
- Policy developments and placement-related challenges in therapeutic education were discussed, with plans to refine and improve processes moving forward.
- The Learning Community positively impacted over 20 staff members and more than 100 students during the 2023-24 academic year.
Learning Community Update
- The Learning Community remains committed to integrating relational neuroscience into therapeutic education.
- Monthly meetings will continue to support interdisciplinary collaboration.
A focus area for the upcoming year is refining policies around therapeutic placements and ensuring best practices are shared across departments.
