Strategic Alignment of Teaching and Learning Enhancement funding Call 2020

On 9th November 2020, the Minister of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, Simon Harris TD, announced a non-competitive funding for the higher education sector. The Strategic Alignment of Teaching and Learning Enhancement (SATLE) 2020 funding call is being published by the National Forum for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (NFETLHE), in partnership with the Higher Education Authority and it signals a significant commitment to the enhancement of teaching and learning in Irish higher education.

The total value of the call was €5m, of which MTU was allocated a total of €343,000 - with MTU Cork receiving €269000 and MTU Kerry receiving €74000. As with SATLE 2019 fund, allocations were made to each individual institution based on their percentage share of core grant. The investment is designed to bring together teaching and learning expertise, institutional priorities and dedicated funding through the recurrent grant allocation to support strategic alignment and to drive teaching and learning innovation across the higher education sector. The full call document is available on the NFETLHE website.

The fund is being administered in MTU by the Offices of the Registrars and Vice Presidents for Academic Affairs under the leadership of Ms Marese Bermingham (Head of AnSEO/Head of TLU, MTU Cork) and Dr Tom Farrelly (MTU Kerry).
